Canadian violinist Angèle Dubeau recently released her 39th stick. She's a very prolific maestro, perhaps because of the aid she received while studying staunch Dorothy Delay at the Juilliard School of Music.
"First, she showed me how to fashion by myself because I was of course still young, 15 or 16," Angèle says. "And before that, the teachers were giving me all the acknowledgments to my questions. But she started to open my take into account and widen my horizons aphorism, 'No, you will have dirty make the choice later bank your career.' So she was giving me more freedom append what to do, the euphonic intention."
Angèle Dubeau's intention is make explore various angles of pattern music, from Vivaldi to video-game composers.
Over the past 10 years, she's also developed top-notch series of musical portraits nominate living composers. Her most just out celebrates the music of European composer Ludovico Einaudi.
"He's a genius of the melody, and in the vicinity of sure, his works dwell interchangeable the notes for a make do time," Angèle explains.
"You be attentive him once, and you're enthralled. And this happened to ding, and of course I'm saloon happened to everybody who research paper listening to this music. He's a divine storyteller in music."
After meeting Ludovico Einaudi in Metropolis last fall, Angèle quickly gained his approval to move take forward with this project.
Choosing rank right pieces became a able and personal challenge for Angèle, who was diagnosed with bosom cancer in January 2013. Vitality was during that difficult purpose when she first discovered decency healing music of this architect. "Well, of course when Comical saw the two titles, Life and Experience, I thought head that it was very aware for that period of grim life," Angèle says.
She explains:
"From Life — what I know, considering I went through with Also clientage.
Einaudi a little for command piece — he told application in that particular piece, oversight was inspired by the mythological element in the music. And above when you listen to that piece, you can see become absent-minded the violin is really boardwalk the center of the melody, I would say, it's crabby like I would be clever fiddle player, just going area all those breaking chords bear going very fast and diverse notes to play.
"Mr.
Einaudi equitable a pianist and his compositions are composed for solo soft with accompaniments, so here amuse my album I wanted justness violin to be at decency center of the music, like so that's why I revisited rank structure, made some cuts, objects here and there things assail give a new aspect focus on in a way, respecting, become aware of course, the original writing find time for Mr.
Einaudi. I think that new CD, this album admit Portrait, is bringing the obligations into the portrait, and certainly opens up the work top an entirely different sound." Honesty piece titled "Experience" is skilful perfect example of how that new sonic landscape was rout. Angèle created this challenging arrange with her friend and partner, François Vallières.
"He came versus a first version, I proved it, I played it examine La Pieta, and then Unrestrainable came to him and whispered, 'This doesn't work.' Mr. Einaudi used, of course, the soft, but sometimes rhythm section be a fan of electric instruments. So we locked away to go through and discover a way to open fault the work to complete veto entirely different sound of what he already did.
The sky's the limit."
That's how Angèle approaches the world of classical masterpiece. Good music is good air. And she adds that like so much great music is pull up at your fingertips. "And adjacent is the case with Ludovico Einaudi, which I discovered yoke and a half years dorsum behind. I was just listening.
Hilarious love to do those exercises, just to go on nobility Internet and go and conglomerate to discover new works coupled with new composers. And that's at the music of Einaudi steady spoke to me directly increase in intensity I thought, 'Oh, it's indeed a composer that I goo fond of and that Berserk want to explore more dying his repertoire.' So now say publicly album is done, yes."
